Deborah Read
Deborah Read has been professionally writing since the age of 12.
Up until then her writings had been for pleasure, gifts and school projects but one day everything changed. After reading her submissions to the school paper, the school principal put her in touch with the editor of the local city newspaper. This experience is the one she treasures as the first time she felt that one day she might actually write to earn a living.
Over the years, Deborah's writing skills have been put to use creating content for company websites, developing and authoring training programs for sales and customer service skills, contributing to technical product manuals and catalogues and writing monthly newsletters for non-profit organizations. Outside of her business writings, she has written dozens of stories for children.
Because of her love of music (rock and roll, opera, jazz and everything else in between), her children (and now grandchildren as well) have been exposed to all music genres from a very young age. She claims to have had the only children in elementary school who knew the difference between (or even recognized the names) Gene Kelly and Fred Astaire or Mozart and Beethoven!
Deborah has worked in home improvement and the paint industries for many years, hence her articles relating to that subject. Her special interests aside from her writing and music include craft projects, all that is associated with movies (especially movie quotes trivia) and cooking for anyone with an appetite. Her culinary skills include many cultures and ethnicities and being of Dutch-Italian descent has her firmly believing that cheese should have its own food group!
Currently, Deborah works as an Office/Facilities Manager for an international oilfield services company and manages the business and office moves for several facilities within her region. She is a very busy lady but when winter sets in, it's all about hockey and her team, The Calgary Flames; Go FLAMES Go!
Recently promoted and transferred as a result, Deborah relocated in the spring of 2011 from Alberta, Canada to Houston, Texas.
